Project title:
Circular Health for Industry
We have always believed in ethical and sustainable industrial production, compatible with the environment and occupational health and safety.
This is why we have implemented a business model pursuant to Italian Decree-Law n. 231/2001, established a Supervisory Board, and drafted an internal Corporate Social Responsibility policy according to the SMETA audit protocol and the ELEVATE standard. We do this to convey the guiding principles of our company both internally and externally.
To pursue our environmental sustainability mission and develop a production model based on the circular economy, we have implemented the voluntary Environmental Management Systems standard UNI EN ISO 140001. We have focused, in particular, on the use of packaging made of recyclable, compostable, and/or recycled material, compliant with the domestic laws of our international customers.
Gas, water, electricity.
Water (+46% in 2020) Gas/electricity (+5% in 2020)
(-25% packaging in 2020) Optimization of the production process.
Recyclable packaging, certified office paper (responsibly managed forests), waste recovery for livestock products.
Staff awareness and responsiveness to environmental topics.
Selection of environmentally conscious suppliers.
Circular Health for Industry is a project funded by Compagnia San Paolo within the Obiettivo Pianeta program. It is supported by the "Intelligenza Artificiale, uomo e società (AI, humans, and society)" call for proposals for research projects on the advancement of scientific knowledge and with a tangible impact on the area in economic and social terms.
The project is based on the concept of Circular Health: a vision of health that is compatible with the environment, plants, animals, and humans. It does this through a synergy and partnership between different actors in society, including businesses. Among the most important fields of application is the monitoring and maintenance of plant health, which the safety of food products and animal feed, as well as zoonosis prevention, depend on.
More specifically, we play a fundamental role in sub-project 2, on the applications in the agri-food sector and coordinated by the Agroinnova Competence Centre at the University of Turin. We contribute to the implementation of an end-to-end traceability system along the entire supply chain, from the farming of raw materials to the end product. We implement the system through a blockchain infrastructure. The result is an increase in awareness by the end user and faster identification of the goods to recall in case of the outbreak of a health risk.
